Newest Associate Resource Group Gets its Start at Limited Brands

 The Limited Brands Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) Associate Resource Group (ARG) made its official debut last week.

The LGBT ARG kickoff event rendered a crowd of nearly 70 Limited Brands associates across Columbus and a New York group, joining via video conference.

“The event was great,” said Gary Aliff, co-leader of the group. “We had some very interactive dialogue. It was more about getting to know each other than anything else.”

Donning the name, EvolvE, which represents the continued growth and evolving process that the LGBT community shares; the group will focus on four initiatives:

• community awareness and involvement,
• education,
• networking and
• recruiting.  

The group’s mission is to offer a positive, open and welcoming community that provides support to the LGBT community and friends, which will in turn serve as a resource to the company.

 

“We started at a grassroots level and really saw some potential for something bigger. That’s when we looked for an executive sponsor,” said Julie Beckman, EvolvE co-leader.

 

Jane Ramsey, executive vice president of human resources, gladly filled the role.

 

“I was honored to be approached as an executive sponsor and I’m excited to see what journey lies ahead for this group. It’s all about building a meaningful community where people can evolve and thrive,” said Ramsey.
